President Larraine presenting cheque to Barbara from Shirleys Shuttle

Our 2016 Charity Day was held on Tuesday 20th September.  28 Teams from around the District together with visitors from outside our District helped to make it a very successful day.    President Larraine welcomed all and wished them a happy day.

We had raffles and a huge number of tombola prizes as well as fancy goods, jams etc.    Our thanks to all who donated and therefore contributed to making our day a success.

After morning tea it was on to the green for a 'spider' and then 2 games of 13 ends were played.  Everyone enjoyed the companionship and the spirit of the day.

After a great barbecue lunch cooked by some our men volunteers it was on to the job of drawing all the raffles and tombola prizes.    There were many happy ladies going home with prizes.

While this was going on the money raised was being counted.  This year it was decided to donate our Charity money to 'Shirley's Shuttle'.   It was lovely to have Barbara Calvin, the founder of Shirley's Shuttle with us.   She explained how it was all started after her mother, Shirley, passed away from cancer.    Barbara decided to start the shuttle service to help people get to their treatment appointments.    Over the years enough has been raised so that now they have 4 'shuttles' spread throughout the Central Coast.       President Larraine, on behalf of Umina Beach Womens Bowling Club, was delighted to present Barbara with a cheque for $2,800.00 which she gratefully received.

The results of the days play were then announced.
